Today we went to Maastricht and went into a church that was renovated into a modern bookstore and coffee shop. My kind of thing!
We also said goodbye or tot ziens to our dear Langeveld family. What fun we had!
Next stop Amsterdam and the Waldorf Astoria on the Herengracht. The hotel was once where the Dutch aristocracy lived, now a beautiful spot on the canals, the Golden Bend, Gouden Bocht.
We met friends Bart and Ronald for dinner and drinks out near the Rembrandtplatz.
Day 2 in Limburg found us exploring the countryside, a visit to an Abbey in Belgium and an evening in Aachen, Germany. We were in an area close to all three countries.
We went into the main cathedral built in 805 AD by Charlemagne also known as Karl and Charles the Great.
Today, we made a pit stop in Alkmaar, the cheese capital of Holland, before heading by train through Haarlem, Leiden and Den Haag to the port city of Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is a very modern city!!
After checking into the Mainport hotel on the water, we explored a bit before heading out to 1nul8, a wine bar and then out for pizza and ice cream!
